We are looking for an experienced Medical Affairs Specialist (MD) to join a biotech company with an impressive pipeline. You will play a key role in shaping the medical and scientific direction of the local organization. Experience in Cardiology and/or Endocrinology is a strong plus. An MD degree is a must.

JOB SCOPE:


In this role, you’ll act as the medical expert supporting all aspects of the local business to ultimately enhance the customers' experience in interacting with the company.


This role encompasses providing scientific and medical support for marketed products, contributing to the “patient journey” and compound strategy, supporting pricing, reimbursement, and access (PRA) efforts, and leading local scientific communication initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Customer & Business Support


  • Anticipate and understand the scientific information needs of local stakeholders, including payers, patients, and healthcare professionals.
  • Partner with global Medical Affairs, Global Patient Outcomes/Real-World Evidence, global PRA, and brand teams to shape medical strategies that align with the local business plan.
  • Serve as the medical expert for business-to-business and business-to-government initiatives.
  • Continuously contribute to strategic planning for currently marketed products.
  • Gain a deep understanding of market dynamics and how these influence medical interventions for the product.
  • Lead the definition of the Patient Journey and key Moments of Truth, acting as both a medical expert and patient advocate
  • Provide scientific and clinical insights for pricing, reimbursement, and access (PRA) initiatives.

Scientific Engagement


  • Build trusted relationships with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders, and professional societies.
  • Plan and support symposia, advisory boards, and scientific meetings.
  • Contribute to data generation and dissemination — including abstracts, posters, and publications.
  • Stay ahead of scientific developments and competitor activity in relevant therapeutic areas.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with external scientific experts, key opinion leaders, and professional societies at local, national, and international levels.
  • Provide medical expertise in the design of customer research.
  • Represent the company at scientific congresses, responding to questions, presenting data, and engaging with thought leaders and customers.
  • Participate in data analysis, scientific publication planning, and final report development.

Clinical Planning


  • Collaborate to ensure that drug lifecycle and development plans address real-world customer needs.
  • Stay informed on preclinical and clinical data relevant to the product.
  • Represent local or regional clinical requirements in the design of study protocols and development plans.

Clinical Research and Trial Support


  • Work with clinical operations teams to design, execute, and report local clinical trials
  • Support investigator identification and selection in partnership with clinical teams.
  • Participate in study start-up activities by providing scientific guidance and training to investigators and site staff.
  • Address the scientific information needs of investigators and study teams throughout the trial process.

Scientific and Technical Expertise


  • Keep abreast of evolving clinical practice trends, access models, and treatment standards relevant to the therapeutic areas.
  • Critically read and evaluate scientific literature, monitor competitor developments, and stay informed on new medical and scientific insights.

General Responsibilities


  • Support medical leadership and business unit management in planning and managing the local medical budget.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and actively contribute to the growth and coaching of colleagues.
  • Serve as a credible ambassador for both patients and the company’s brand.

ABOUT YOU


  • Medical Doctor (MD) with experience in Medical Affairs.
  • Background in endocrinology or cardiology is a strong plus.
  • Fluent in Dutch, French, and English.
  • Excellent communicator with strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Diplomatic, collaborative, and confident in engaging with healthcare professionals.
  • Strategic thinker with strong project management and prioritization abilities.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and passionate about improving patient outcomes.
  • Goal oriented and strive for innovative solutions
